Our Story
Dakar began with Chef Serigne Mbaye's desire to share the flavors, memories, and traditions of his childhood in Senegal. Growing up cooking alongside his mother, he learned that food was as much about bringing people together as it was about what was on the table. Through Dakar, he honors his Senegalese roots and the deep culinary connections between West Africa and New Orleans.
Dakar is both a homecoming and a new expression of West African cuisine.
“Senegal and Ghana both have strong hospitality cultures. At Dakar, we are committed to bringing joy to people through the West African hospitality that shaped both of our upbringings.
We cook to nurture your soul and your spirit. ”
